NEW ORLEANS–In a commanding performance on January 25, 2025, Dillard University secured a decisive victory over Southern University at New Orleans with a final score of 82-47. The game, held at Dent Hall, highlighted Dillard's superior offensive and defensive play, as they improved their season record to 13-5, while Southern University fell to 6-16.
Dillard took control of the game early on, despite trailing by two at the end of the first quarter (19-21). They quickly recovered in the second quarter, outscoring Southern University 19-7, and maintained their momentum through the second half. This was largely thanks to their effective team play and balanced scoring.
Cassidy Lowe was a standout for Dillard, leading the team with 18 points and dominating the boards with 16 rebounds over a full 40 minutes of play. D'Mya Ferguson also made significant contributions, adding 16 points and matching Lowe's effort with 16 rebounds. Faith Alessandra provided a crucial offensive spark, scoring 17 points, while Alexis Gie and Wynter Taylor contributed 8 and 7 points respectively.
