NASHVILLE (October 1, 2024) - HBCU Athletic Conference Attacker of the week Reagan Jones had a game-high ten kills, Sydney Willis and La'Niyah Lumpkin chipped in with nine but it was not enough as the Fisk University Lady Bulldogs (14-12) fell to the Freed Hardeman University Lions (11-10) in straight sets (27-25, 25-14, and 25-21) in nonconference action from Nashville. Fisk used the energy from a partisan sell-out crowd to force two deuces in the first set but couldn't hold off a tough Lion team.
Willis made a strong effort on the defensive end, with seven season-high blocks. The Lady Bulldogs played without two key starters, HBCUAC Defender of the Week Nialah Gupton and utility player Laila Esters. HBCUAC Setter of the Week Trinity Britt continued her strong play, quarterbacking the offense to the tune of 25 assists.
Fisk will jump back into conference play when they travel to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to take on Stillman College.
