Burton-Oliver Gets Career-High in Fisk’s Win Against Wilberforce
After being held to five points in the previous meeting, Keeli Burton-Oliver makes amends.
NASHVILLE (February 15, 2025) -The Fisk University Lady Bulldogs triumphed over the Wilberforce University Bulldogs with a final score of 63-59 in the HBCUAC East Division play held in front of a sellout crowd of 711 on Senior Night in Nashville. The win avenged a tough loss on the road last week to Wilberforce, where Fisk came back from an 18-point deficit to cut it to one but couldn't finish the comeback. This time, on the back of senior Keeli Burton-Oliver, with her family from Sammamish, Washington in attendance, the Lady Bulldogs were able to prevail.
Key Performance
Burton-Oliver was the star of the game, scoring a career-high 32 points, with 22 of those points coming in the second half. Burton-Oliver's performance was crucial in turning the game around. With Wilberforce leading by eight points with just nine minutes left on the clock, Burton-Oliver's 12 points in the closing minutes secured the victory for her team.
"I felt like I didn't play my best when we played them there," said Burton-Oliver. "We are getting to the postseason, so I need to step up. I am gaining confidence, and my teammates are trusting me more. We needed this win and I was glad we could in front of my family."
Aniya Young chipped in with 12 rebounds.
