CCSJ drops matchup against Cougars

Chicago, IL – The Calumet College of St. Joseph women's basketball team lost to Saint Xavier 93-46 on Saturday afternoon at the Shannon Center.

How it Happened

The Cougars got off to a hot start, scoring 10 unanswered points before Amelia Scorsone made a layup to get the Wave on the scoreboard. 

Saint Xavier's (10-6, 6-2 CCAC) lead grew to 17 as CCSJ (2-14, 0-8 CCAC) shot 6-of-22 in the first quarter.  

The Crimson Wave put up a better defensive effort in the second quarter but trailed by 21 going into halftime.

Struggling to find its offense, CCSJ only scored a combined 16 points in the second half, after scoring 30 in the first half.

The Wave shot 14-of-58 (24 percent) from the field in the loss, it's third worst shooting performance of the season. 

Crimson Wave Leaders

Markisha Pritchett led the Wave with 11 points, four rebounds and three assists. Amelia Scorsone had six points and eight rebounds while Derriauna Woodson added six points, three rebounds and two steals off the bench.
