TIGERS FALL TO REIGNING CHAMPS IN SEASON OPENER
WILLIAMSBURG, KY. - Olivet Nazarene University (ONU) women's soccer team faced a challenging start to their regular season, falling 3-0 to the reigning national champions, the University of the Cumberlands Patriots, in a tough road match on Saturday.
The Patriots struck early, with a goal in the 6th minute of the first half, putting the Tigers on the back foot from the outset. Despite ONU's efforts to equalize, the Patriots' defense held firm, and the score remained 1-0 going into halftime.
In the second half, the Patriots continued to press their advantage, scoring again in the 53rd minute, quickly followed by another goal less than a minute later, making it 3-0. The Tigers fought hard to get back into the game but were unable to break through the solid Patriots' defense.
Looking Ahead
The Tigers will look to bounce back in their next match as they travel to Bethel University for another away game on August 19th. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 PM CST. This will be a crucial opportunity for ONU to regroup and aim for their first win of the season.
