Knoxville, TN – The Johnson University Lady Royals volleyball team was swept in three sets by conference-leading Columbia International University (CIU) in their AAC matchup on Saturday. Despite a valiant effort, Johnson couldn't overcome the offensive firepower of CIU, losing 16-25, 20-25, and 23-25, dropping their season record to 12-4 overall and 3-3 in conference play.
For the Lady Royals, Abigail Brown and Kiersten Bell led the offense with 10 and 7 kills, respectively, while Ramiyah Thompson added 6 kills with a strong .333 hitting percentage. Despite a late rally in the third set, Johnson was unable to close the gap.
Johnson struggled with consistency, hitting .167 as a team and committing 18 errors over the three sets. The Lady Royals will look to bounce back as they continue conference play next week.
