Men's Basketball's Comeback Falls Short to Kuyper College in Home Opener

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's basketball team fell short to non-conference opponent Kuyper College, 86-80 on Tuesday in its home opener at The Siena Heights Fieldhouse. 

Jonas Tester led the Saints with 27 points, three rebounds, and four steals. 

SHU (0-3) saw themselves trailing at halftime 43-31 after a first half high-scoring affair. 

In the second half, Kuyper extended its lead to 13, which was their largest lead of the game at 55-42 at the 15:25 mark. 

The Saints then went on a 7-0 run in 3:05 to pull to within six points at 55-49. 

Kuyper then found themselves back up by 13 at 65-52 in a span of 1:51 after a 10-3 scoring run. 

The Saints then caught fire again after Kobe Clark hit a three-pointer to pull SHU to within three at 69-66, but the comeback effort fell short as Kuyper was able to hang on to win 86-80 after a late second-half surge. 

The Saints will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 16, with a 3 p.m. EST game at home vs Defiance.
