Tondryk Paces Wolverines to Two Victories at Clarke University Invite

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of Michigan-Dearborn volleyball team won a pair of games in straight sets at the Clarke University Invite on Friday (Aug. 23). Kielee Tondryk (Pingree Grove, Ill. / Hampshire High School) led the Wolverines with an impressive 31 kills in six sets to pace the Wolverine attack. 

Game One vs Calumet (Ind.)  (25-15, 25-15, 25-15)

The Wolverines came to play in their season opener, hitting .364 as a team. The Wolverines had 41 kills in 88 attacks. Tondryk led the way with 14 kills, while Jill Paryaski (Trenton, Mich. / Albion College) was efficient in her swings with nine kills in 12 chances. Kristin Maust (Rochester, Mich. / Stoney Creek High School) and Marisa Fetterley (Paw Paw, Mich. / Kalamazoo Christian High School) finished with eight and six kills, respectively. 

UM-Dearborn did not let the Crimson Wave surpass 15 points in any set, taking just an hour and nine minutes to complete the contest. Regan Rose (Decatur, Mich. / Decatur High School) dished out 32 assists and three services aces in her final season opener. 

Game Two vs UHSP (25-21, 25-9, 25-23)

The nightcap tested the Wolverines at times, as they had to put together late runs in multiple sets to secure the victory. Tondryk was again instrumental in the team's success as she buried 17 kills in 31 chances, hitting .484 on the game. Paryaski was again strong at the net, having five blocks and seven kills in nine chances. The Wolverine middles dominated the game as they had 16 block assists compared to just six for UHSP. Maust had eight kills in the straight-sets victory, while Fetterley chipped in seven of her own. 

The Wolverines rallied from being down 20-18 in the third set, scoring seven of the last 10 points to complete the sweep and complete day one at the Clarke University Invite with a pair of wins.
