Tondryk & Rose Named All-Tournament Team; Wolverines Go 4-0 at Clarke University Invite

DUBUQUE, Iowa -- The University of Michigan-Dearborn volleyball team completed a perfect 4-0 weekend at the Clarke University Invite, defeating Briar Cliff 3-1 and Mount Marty 3-2 in a five-set thriller. After impressive performances, Kielee Tondryk (Pingree Grove, Ill. / Hampshire High School) and Regan Rose (Decatur, Mich. / Decatur High School) were selected to the All-Tournament team

Game One vs Briar Cliff (Iowa) (25-23, 25-22, 26-28, 25-14)

Tondryk was unstoppable in game one as she recorded a massive career-high 27 kills, hitting .500 on those swings. Two other Wolverines had double-digit kills, with Marisa Fetterley and Jill Paryaski recording 15 and 11, respectively. Regan Rose was the catalyst behind the Wolverine attack, dishing out 59 assists and 15 digs. Kenzie Mertz led the contest with 32 digs.

After fending off Briar Cliff in the first two sets, the Wolverines dropped the third set 28-26 to make it 2-1. The Wolverines relied on their vets to push them through the finish line, thumping Briar Cliff 25-14 in the fourth and final set. 

Game Two vs Mount Marty (24-26, 27-25, 18-25, 26-24, 15-13)

UM-Dearborn looked to be on the verge of their first loss of the season after dropping a 25-18 third set to go down 2-1. The Maize & Blue would lead from start to finish in the fourth set, highlighted by a pair of kills from Tondryk during crunch time. With the momentum switched to the Wolverines, Mount Marty could not win the deciding set after tying it at 13. 

UM-Dearborn would score the final two points to put away Mount Marty 15-13 and complete the sweep of the Clarke University Invite.
