Buffaloes Tennis Squads Fall to Union Commonwealth at Home
MILLIGAN, Tenn. - On Tuesday afternoon, the Milligan University tennis teams both fell to Union Commonwealth University at Mathes Tennis Center on the Milligan University campus. The men dropped their contest 5-2, while the women fell 6-1.
For the men in singles, Gonzaga Lafarga snatched a win in the No. 1 singles match, as he earned a 6-2, ret. victory to start things nicely in singles. Unfortunately, Milligan's only other win would come in the sixth singles matchup, as Marcos Moreno notched a 6-4, 1-0 ret. decision in his favor to earn the two points for the Buffs.
Doubles consisted of a 6-0 triumph by Ryan Thomas and Michal Curlej, but two tiebreak losses in the other matchups. Moreno and Thiago Petry fell 7-6 (7-4), while Brayden Kennedy and Lafarga lost 7-6 (8-6).
The women struggled in singles, with only Marta Miralles scoring a victory in the No. 2 singles match. She dominated by a score of 6-2, 6-2.
Milligan led 5-3 in the No. 2 doubles matchup with Lee Ann Endler and Tiana Shelton, but their contest would not finish, as Union took match No. 1 and No. 3 convincingly
Both teams' seasons will continue on Friday, as the matches against Johnson Thursday have been postponed due to weather forecasts. The teams will go down to SCAD Atlanta in Georgia, looking to get back on the winning track. First serve is set for 3 p.m.
