Lykke's Hat Trick Propels No. 4 Central Past Jamestown

Fayette, Mo. - Behind a hat trick from Kirstine Lykke, the No. 4 Central Methodist Women's Soccer team took care of business against Jamestown University, 3-1, Saturday afternoon at Davis Field. 

The Eagles improve their overall record to 5-0-1, while the Jimmies fall to 1-1. 

Lykke pushed Central out in front with a goal in the 17th minute, as both Kaede Yamaguchi & Lacey Ann Murray assisted on the goal. Lykke followed that up with another score 10 minutes later off the assist from Luisa Schaupp

CMU would hold a 2-0 lead at the halftime break. 

Jamestown would cut the Eagles' lead in half with a goal in 56th minute. However, Lykke shut the door in the 74th as she completed a hat trick with her third goal of the afternoon. Both Sara Garcia and Suzu Narusawa assisted on the goal. 

It mark's Lykke second career hat trick since joining the Eagles. Her previous three-score match came against Benedictine College in the 2023 Heart Semifinals. 

As a team, Central finished the afternoon with 19 shots including nine of those shots coming on goal. Jamestown tallied 13 shots but only put five on frame. 

Madison Priebe earned her fifth win of the year, playing all 90 minutes in goal and picking up four saves. 

Central opens conference play against Grand View University Saturday, Sept. 14 at 6:30 p.m. in Des Moines, Iowa.
