
The Cottey College Volleyball kicked off their season at the Manhattan Christian Thunder Invitational this past weekend, bringing home a 1-3 record. With each new season, finding the right mix of lineups is the key to the early season matchups.
The first contest saw Cottey take on Friends University. The Comets would take the third set of the contest, but eventually fell 1-3. Four Comets shared the lead on Kills, with Tatum Marang, Magdalen Dougherty, Elena Adams, and Madysen Trobough all recording 5 Kills. Senior Staley Stallaby coordinated the offense as setter, picking up 10 Assists. Freshman Kailee Hooper was the defensive stalwart, recording 12 digs in the contest.
Cottey would get on the winning side when they took on Langston in the 2nd session, taking a 3-0 victory. Magdalen Dougherty was the leader with 6 Kills, while Staley Stallaby recorded 13 assists. Kailee Hooper had 28 Digs, holding the backline strong as the libero. Mckinzie Bohrer had 3 Service Aces to go along with 5 Digs.
The Comets would fall to Sterling College and Manhattan Christian on day two of the tournament.
Cottey returns to action next weekend at the Sioux City Tournament for another two-days full of action
