Crimson Wave Women's Basketball struggles in loss to IUN
Gary, IN – The Calumet College of St. Joseph women's basketball team lost on Wednesday evening to Indiana University Northwest at the Savannah Center, 75-27.
How it Happened
CCSJ (2-17, 0-11 CCAC) struggled to catch its offensive footing from the start, only making one of its first seven field attempts.
After a Wave timeout with 3:33 left in the first quarter, CCSJ was able to end the quarter on a 9-4 run, trailing 14-12.
The second quarter was like the first as the Crimson Wave only made one field in more than five minutes of action. Indiana University Northwest (15-4, 8-3 CCAC) took advantage of CCSJ's misfortunes, earning their largest lead at the time of 16 points going into halftime.
Trying to keep the game within striking distance was freshman point guard Priscilla Diaz, who scored nine of CCSJ's 19 first half points.
In the second half, the RedHawks lead grew to as much as 48 points.
The Wave shot 11-of-52 (21.2 percent) from the field in the loss, it's second worst shooting performance of the season.
Crimson Wave Leaders
Priscilla Diaz ended with a team-high nine points and five rebounds. Ariana Lemons had six points and nine rebounds, while Nicole Swain contributed with six rebounds as well.
