Crimson Wave cruise to 111-67 win in home opener Friday
The CCSJ Men's Basketball team roll past Moody Bible Institute 111-67 on Friday to earn its first win of the season.
Whiting, IN – The Calumet College of St. Joseph men's basketball team cruised to a 111-67 win at home against Moody Bible Institute on Friday, November 1 at the Rittenmeyer Center.
All 12 members of the Crimson Wave checked in, with 11 registering a field goal.
How it Happened
The Crimson Wave got off to a fast start, recording a double-digit lead just seven and a half minutes into the contest. Antonio Buckley hit a 3-pointer from the right corner that capped an 8-0 run, giving CCSJ a 26-10 advantage.
That momentum carried CCSJ throughout the evening, extending its lead to 27 points at the end of halftime. Jared Hankins led that first half surge, scoring 15 of his game-high 22 points.
The Wave continued to roll in the second half, posting its largest lead of 45 points. CCSJ finished the game shooting 45-of-71 (63.4 percent) and 10-of-22 (45.5 percent) from behind the arc.
In the first game of Jason Hawkins second stint as the Calumet College men's head basketball coach, it was all smiles after the victory. "Aw man I was just super excited to be back on the sidelines here and see the guys play hard like they did tonight," Hawkins said. "We played with joy, we shared the ball and we played together. Our energy and effort was high and it can be a fun season if we keep it that way."
Crimson Wave Leaders
The Wave had six players finish with double-digit scoring outputs, including Jared Hankins who led all scorers with 22.
Colby Wiggins had 14 points, swishing four 3-pointers. Oshawn Lee and Hrvoje Majcunic had 14 points each off the bench, while starting center J.Caleb Slawinski posted 12 points. Antonio Buckley chipped in as well with 10 points.
