Atchison, Kan. - The Central Methodist Men's Soccer team fell to (RV) Benedictine College by a final score of 2-1 Wednesday night in Atchison, Kansas.
Central now stands at 9-5-4 and 3-5-2 in the Heart of America while the Ravens improve to 10-4-3 and 5-2-3 in the conference.
CMU found themselves trailing early, as Benedictine scored in the sixth minute of play. Less than six minutes later, BC struck again to push their lead to 2-0.
Central looked to be entering the halftime break down 2-0, but a foul inside the box gave CMU the opportunity at a penalty kick. Junior forward Koen Schimmel attempted the PK and sent the ball past the keeper right down the middle of the net for the score. It marked Schimmel's fourth goal of the 2024 campaign.
CMU would enter halftime trailing by just a goal.
Central held a second-half advantage in shots, 6-5, and also took six corner kicks compared to none for the Ravens. However, CMU was unable to find the equalizer, as Benedictine would hold on for the 2-1 victory.
Both sides were nearly even in shots, as Benedictine finished with 12 and CMU 11.
The Eagles will remain on the road for a matchup against (RV) Clarke University on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 3:30 p.m. in Dubuque, Iowa.
