Volleyball falls to #12 Aquinas

(Grand Rapids, MI) - Concordia volleyball traveled to #12 Aquinas for a WHAC matchup on Saturday afternoon.  The Saints lived up to their billing and came away with a 3-0 sweep. 

 

Breann June led the team with eight kills and 11 digs.  Emma Leinberger had a team high 11 assists.   

 

SET ONE: AQ 25, CUAA 17  

Jacey Powell had the first Cardinal kill.  Maggie Pritts notched an ace, and Claudia Grepke had a solo block and kill.  Joy Pryor also recorded an ace and Breann June made two kills with an ace. However, Aquinas took set one. 

 

SET TWO: AQ 25, CUAA 19  

The first kill of set two was by Jacey PowellClaudia Grepke had two early kills, and Jillian Kendrick made an ace for a 5-4 lead.  Breann June continued to be a strong hitter and Jacey Powell tied the set 13-13 with a kill.  Jillian Kendrick made a second ace in the set, but Aquinas came away with a set two win. 

 

SET THREE: AQ 25, CUAA 11  

Jessalyn Peavyhouse made the first kill in set three.  Breann June made two early kills and Emiline Wood had an ace.  However, Aquinas pulled away and took set three to win the game. 

 

 

Concordia will return home to host Rochester Christian this Friday, October 25th, at 7pm.
