Baseball sweeps Dordt in doubleheader

Mitchell, S.D. – Dakota Wesleyan ended the afternoon with 2 wins against Dordt University Defenders'. Both games were big wins as they now hold a 3-1 conference record. 

Game 1 Final Score: 9-2

Dakota Wesleyan: 14 Runs,  14Hits, 0 Error
Dordt University: 4 Runs, 9 Hits, 5 Errors

  • Dakota Wesleyan: Landon Ruesing reacheed first on an error by Dordt 2nd baseman, Matt McMillian. Advancing Laird to second and Dexter Payne scoring. (5-0)
  • Dordt: In the bottom of the 3rd, striked back as Gabe McFarland scored due to a fielders choice that was in play due to Carson Belcher. Jimmy Twombly advanced to 2nd.
  • Logan Templeton who singled and earned an RBI as Jimmy Twombly found the home. Making the score (5-2)

3rd Inning:

  • Dakota Wesleyan: Ran away with the rest of the game as they put 2 more points to round out the game. Thomas Dutton hit a home run that allowed two of his teammates, including him, to to score. Tharaldson and Lane Darrow.
  • Dakota Wesleyan: Shortly after Breuer doubled to center field that brought Payne back to the dugout. Finalizing the score 9-2.

  • Alex Mizsak had a strong pitching performance on the mound as he pitched for all 7 innings of the first game. Only allowing 3 hits, 2 runs, and had 5 strikeouts. 
  • Dutton, Brown, and Jirau each had a home run a piece to end the day. Jirau and Dutton both had 4 RbI's. Brown had 3.

The Tigers will return to the pitch on Tuesday, March 18 at 3:00p.m. They will face non-conference matchup Dakota State Trojans at home, Drake field in Mitchell.
