RU Wins 5th-Straight With SWEEP Over St. Andrews
Laurinburg, NC – The Eagles are in North Carolina over the weekend to play in two AAC match-ups. The first took place on Thursday night, where the Eagles took the 3-0 sweep over the St. Andrews Knights (3-0; 25-14, 25-10, 25-16). The Eagles will continue with another match against Columbia International on the following day. The Eagles are commanding the season so far as they are 5-0 in conference play.
The Eagles were in control of this entire match, as RU had 36 kills (.312) to SAU's 17 (.012). Reinhardt also led over St. Andrews in digs (44-31) and service aces (9-2).
RU's Jenna Smith has been a dominating force for the RU offense, as this is the 5th straight match she has led in kills. In this match, she hit a powerful .444, earning herself 10 kills. Caroline Curry, Faith Breitbarth, and Juliette Baffico each added 6 kills. Ashlynn Barnes is the RU captain, and does a fantastic job. She ran the efficient offense, totaling 24 assists. Barnes also added 2 service aces.
Defensively, Silvia Aguado, recorded the squad-high in digs, totaling 22 digs. She also had a whopping 5 service-aces.
Up next for the Eagles will prove to be a big matchup. The Eagles will be taking on the only other undefeated team in the AAC, Columbia International.
