Waleska, GA - Reinhardt Baseball has a new cast of characters coming into 2025 to go along with the remaining members of the historic 2024 Word Series team, but the results seemed to be the same.  They wasted no time and showed they can produce runs by scoring twenty-four total in the doubleheader Saturday.  Reinhardt took down the Blue Raiders 12-1 in game one and then 12-2 in game two.

GAME ONE

NAIA All-American Andrew Herbert got the nod for the first game for the Eagles in 2025, and he did what Eagles fans have enjoyed for the past three previous seasons. Herbert controlled the game his entire 5.1 innings striking out 6 batters and only allowed one run.  Herbert was pulled in the sixth for newcomer Logan Lynch.  Lynch pitched 1.2 innings and recorded 3 strikeouts while not giving up a run. It was a dominating performance by the Eagles staff and the Blue Raiders did not have an answer for it.

Offensively, the Eagles got a crushed home run to left center field by Nash Crowell. Crowell also had two doubles in the game and along with Herbert - Crowell is a definite leader on this Eagles team. Crowell ended the game with five RBIs to lead the Eagles.

Also, recording doubles was the left fielder Adam Harris and the second baseman Cade Chamlee - both newcomers to this Eagles squad.

GAME TWO
The Eagles started slightly slower in game two, but the end results were just the same.  Tate Dearing got the start for the Eagles and pitched half of the eight inning game.  Adam Christopher - who was one of the star players from last years World Series run - came in the top of the fifth and had a great outing as well.
 
Dearing pitched four innings giving up 6 hits and one run. He struck out four Blue Raiders in his efforts. Christoppher matched Dearing striking out four batters and only gave up 3 hits in his innings.

Offensively, the game was mutch tighter in the early innings, but it opened up greatly in the later part of the game.  The Eagles got three runs in the first two innings and then added a couple more in the bottom of the fourth to take a 5-1 lead over Lindsey Wilson. 
 
Adrian Vargas was 3 for 5 in the game with a triple and scored 2 runs. Shortstop Robert Phelps was just slightly better going 4 for 6 and scored 3 runs. Phelps had two doubles in the game.  These two opened up the scoring for the Eagles - especially in the later innings which ended the game early.
 
Reinhardt will finish out the series with Lindsey Wilson on Sunday afternoon, which is supposedd to be another nice day in Waleska.  1 pm first pitch.
