
WINTER HAVEN, Fla. -- The Siena Heights baseball team split two games against Northwestern (Iowa) on Tuesday. In game one the Saints won 4-1 and fell in the second game 4-1.
The Saints (2-7) will return to action on Thursday against Calumet in a non-conference doubleheader starting at 9:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. EST.
Game One: Siena Heights 4, Northwestern (Iowa) 1
Mil Ramsey, Gino Hutchinson, and Jack Semler each recorded hits for SHU.
Chase Molnar and Tim Polidor performed strongly on the mound each allowing no hits in three and four innings respectively. Tim Polidor worked four innings allowing one walk with four strikeouts and was credited with the win. Chase Molnar relieved the final three innings allowing two walks with five strikeouts and was credited with the save.
Mil Ramsey started the day scoring for SHU in the first. In the third, Mil Ramsey hit an RBI double and eventually scored to put the Saints up 3-0 after three innings. The Saints scored their final run in the fifth after a Gino Hutchinson RBI single to put the Saints up 4-0. Northwestern (Iowa) scored in the next at-bat but was unable to catch up to SHU.
Game two: Northwestern (Iowa) 4, Siena Heights 1
Gino Hutchinson, Aidan Grinstead, and Justin Holton all tallied one hit for SHU.
John Millen started on the hill for the Saints working five innings allowing one earned run off six hits while totaling seven strikeouts. Garret Smith came in for relief in the sixth with one strikeout and Benjamin Weadock pitched the final inning.
Northwestern (Iowa) scored one run in the first and third innings to take a 2-0 lead. In the third, Gino Hutchinson got SHU on the board with an RBI single to make it 2-1 Northwestern (Iowa). The Saints scored no more as Northwestern (Iowa) scored one more run in the fifth and one more seventh.
