Reinhardt University Eagles Clinch Victory on Senior Night Against Truett-McConnell Bears
Waleska, GA - In an electrifying display of basketball prowess at the Brown Athletic Center, the Reinhardt University women's basketball team celebrated Senior Night with a commanding 78-66 victory over the Truett-McConnell Bears on Wednesday night. The game, pivotal in the AAC Conference, also served as a stage to honor seniors Julia Craft, Noelle Lavery, and Tyra Wilson for their contributions throughout their collegiate careers.
From the onset, the Eagles demonstrated dominating gameplay, seizing an early lead by the end of the first period with a score of 18-12. Laphina Campbell and Noelle Lavery shone brightly, rallying their team with significant points and key defensive plays. Campbell, leading the scoring for the Eagles with 23 points and embellishing her performance with four crucial steals, was a standout. She was ably supported by Lavery who notched 22 points and led the assist tally with three, displaying her all-around game prowess.
Julia Craft not only secured rebounds but also kept the scoreboard ticking, rounding off her night with 19 points, including her 1000th career point The team's continuous effort extended their lead during the game, particularly through a stunning 16-point lead at halftime, underscored by the halftime score of 42-27. The match's final quarter saw the Eagles maintain their dominance, securing a 12-point win, highlighted by consistent scoring and a solid defense that curtailed any comeback attempts from the Bears.
The victory not only highlighted individual performances but also underscored Reinhardt's collective strength and execution, evident from their defense and effective shooting. With this win, the Eagles improve their season record to 20-7 overall and 16-5 in conference play.
Looking ahead, the Eagles will face the Columbia College Koalas in an away game on Saturday, February 22nd at 2pm. This will be their last regular-season game before heading into the the AAC Tournament next week in Kingsport, TN.
