(Ann Arbor, MI) - Concordia football hosted rival Siena Heights on a sunny Saturday afternoon to continue MSFA Mideast play. The Cardinals stifled the Saints' offense and secured a 9-0 shutout victory.
Colby Kohmescher threw for 62 yards while leading the rushing attack with 77 yards. James Carpenter added 50 rushing yards while Te'Avion Warren led receivers with 34 yards.
On defense David Cagle, Ethan Burrows, and Parker Shuman tied for the team lead with 7 tackles apiece. Burrows added an interception on the final Siena Heights drive.
Concordia received the opening kickoff to begin the game. Both defenses exchanged stops to begin the game. The Cardinals controlled almost the entire quarter while they pounded out a 22-play, 80-yard drive that took 11.05 off the clock. Caiden Thomas made a 35-yard field goal to put CUAA ahead 3-0 after the first quarter.
For most of the second quarter both defenses remained strong. Caiden Thomas kicked a 27-yard field goal late in the quarter and CUAA held a 6-0 lead at halftime.
In the third quarter a 12-play, 58-yard drive ended with Caiden Thomas converting a 21-yard field goal. CUAA maintained a 9-0 lead after three quarters of play.
The Cardinal defense continued maintain their shutout in the fourth quarter. On the final Siena Heights drive, Ethan Burrows made an interception on a deep pass to seal the game. CUAA was able to kneel out the clock and claim the 9-0 victory.
Concordia will play a critical divisional game next Saturday, November 2nd, when they travel to #3 Indiana Wesleyan for a 12pm kickoff.
