(Grand Rapids, MI)-- The Cleary Cougar women's soccer team was in Grand Rapids for a WHAC contest against the Cornerstone Golden Eagles Saturday afternoon, and were unable to bring a win back to Howell, as the hosts won 4-0.
The Golden Eagles would core in the 11th minute, and then added another ten minutes later to take a commanding lead in the early goings of the first half. It went from bad to worse in the 39th minute, as Cornerstone scored their third goal of the game, and that score would hold the rest of the half.
Cornerstone would score their fourth and final goal of the game in the 58th minute, and Cleary would be unable to get their own breakthrough, as the game ended by a 4-0 scoreline.
Tara McGrath made 3 saves in the game while suffering the defeat. Cleary was outshot 13-3 in the contest.
The loss drops Cleary's record to 2-5-3 overall, 1-2-1 in the WHAC. The Cougars will be back on the road in Grand Rapids on Wednesday, October 2, when they travel to take on the Aquinas College Saints. The game is set to begin at 7:00 PM.
