Baseball Drops Pair to Lawrence Tech

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. -- The Siena Heights baseball team dropped a pair of games to Lawrence Tech on Friday. The Saints fell short 5-3 in game one before dropping game two 8-0. 

The Saints will return to action on Saturday vs Dordt at 9 a.m. EST. 

Game one: Lawrence Tech 5, Siena Heights 3 

Devin Eads led the Saints offensively going 2-for-3 at bat with two RBIs. 

Shilo Bernal Jr. started on the mound and worked four innings allowing three runs with five hits while forcing five strikeouts. Guy Young came in for relief surrendering two runs. 

Lawrence Tech heated up in the fourth inning scoring three runs to go up 3-0. SHU then got on the board with an RBI single from Braxton Mustiful in the fifth. Next at-bat, Lawrence Tech hit a home run to take a 5-1 advantage after five. In the seventh, the Saints closed the gap as Devin Eads recorded a two-RBI double to pull SHU to within two runs at 5-3, but two more strikeouts from Lawrence Tech sealed it in game one. 

Game two: Lawrence Tech 8, Siena Heights 0 

Offensively, Kaleb Woods and Landon DeVaney tallied hits with one each for the Saints. 

Andrew Baum started on the hill and worked 4.1 innings allowing three runs, six hits, and totaling three strikeouts. Christian Smolen came in working the next 1.2 innings allowing two earned runs off four hits. Pearson Mendiuk relieved the last inning with two strikeouts.

Lawrence Tech scored a run in the first and third innings to take a 2-0 lead before three more runs in the fifth and seventh innings each.
