
Drovers Suffer First Loss on the Road at Bethany
LINDSBORG, Kan. – Tuesday afternoon, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (2-1, 0-0 SAC) suffered their first loss of the season with a 61-51 performance on the road at Bethany College (2-1, 0-0 KCAC).
Both teams traded baskets for the opening 10 minutes of action, but the Swedes held a slim 17-15 advantage at the end of the first quarter. Bethany got off to a hot start in the second quarter, and led by as many as 18, but USAO was able to go on an 8-0 run at the end of the quarter to trim the deficit to 34-24 going into halftime.
Following the break, the Drovers stormed back and only trailed 39-36 midway through the third quarter. At the end of three quarters, USAO trailed Bethany 43-41, after outscoring the Swedes 17-9 in the third.
The Drovers immediately tied the score at 43-43 to open the fourth quarter, prior to Bethany using a 10-5 run to hold a 53-48 lead with five minutes to play. The lead continued to grow for Bethany over the final minutes as the Swedes closed out the 10-point win.
USAO's offense closed the game shooting 19-49 (.388) from the field, 3-8 (.375) from beyond the arc, and 10-15 (.667) from the free-throw line. In comparison, Bethany College shot 25-69 (.362) from the field, 5-29 (.172) from deep, and 6-12 (.500) from the charity stripe.
The Drovers were outrebounded and outscored in the paint, with the Swedes outscoring USAO 38-26, and outrebounding by a margin of 34-32.
USAO committed 23 turnovers, which led to 25 points for BC. Meanwhile, the Swedes fumbled the ball 13 times, resulting in 14 points for the Drovers.
USAO was whistled for 15 fouls, while BC was called for 23 violations.
Alexia Corrales led the Drovers offensively, closing with 11 points and four rebounds. Madison Hays contributed eight points, and seven rebounds.
Franka Kraus scored nine points and dished out two assists. Hannah Harris concluded with eight points, tailed by Anna Kassim with seven points and five boards.
Devynn Harris and Jasmine Villarreal each closed with three points.

The Drovers will play an exhibition game on the road at No. 22 ranked Southern Nazarene University (NCAA DII) on Tuesday, November 12. Tip-off is scheduled for 12:00 PM CT in Bethany, Okla.
