Waldorf’s strong team effort leads to exciting win against Midland University

FOREST CITY, Iowa - In the first game of the new year, Waldorf Women's Basketball played strong as a team to win 83-81 over Midland University. Myia Ruzek shined with 28 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block.
Late in the fourth quarter, after Midland made two free throws to go up 81-80, Waldorf didn't back down. With one second left in the game, Brooke Dial scored a 3-point shot assisted by Edosa Ogbemudia to put Waldorf up 83-81. Dial finished the game with 21 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal. Ogbemudia finished with 7 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, and 2 blocks.
Also on the board were Camryn McQuery with 15 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals, and 1 block and Alyah Abrahamson with 10 points, 1 rebound, 8 assists, and 1 steal. Rounding out the Waldorf Warriors' team effort were Charlotte Mills with 2 points, 3 assists, and 1 steal, Fatou Barry and Alaja Jones with 1 rebound each, and Cloey Dmytruk with 1 assist.
Coach Shawn Chaffin said he is "so proud of our team. It would have been easy to lose our focus after Midland took the lead late, but we focused in our timeouts and executed. Love the 27 assists, which was one short of the school single game record. Myia was amazing tonight, and Brooke hit an All-American shot for the win!"
The Waldorf Warriors are back on the road for Saturday's game at Mount Marty University in Yankton, South Dakota, starting at 2pm.
