
Men’s Basketball Unable to Steal the Close Lead from the Barons
MOUNT VERNON, Ga. (Nov. 14th, 2024) - The Point University Men's basketball team returned to the court at Brewton-Parker College for a Southern States Athletic Conference matchup that ended in an intense final score of 70-65.
The first half began with fierce competition as both teams battled to stay in the lead. Vince Graves started hot, adding the first points of the game with a jump shot and a dunk within the first two minutes. Both teams continued scoring back to back, keeping a tight score with each other. Towards the end of the half, the Skyhawks continued fighting but, they were unable to steal the lead from the Barons.
As the second half began, the Skyhawks and Barons jumped into action with a close score of 29-27. As time went on, the Skyhawks started falling behind, but at the last minute, Tanner Higgins gained traction with multiple 3-pointers, however, it was not enough to knock the Barons out of the lead. As a result, the game ended with a final score of 70-65.

Tanner Higgins led the game with 18 points, one rebound, one assist, and one steal. Antwon Ferrell added 16 points, eight rebounds, and five assists and Vince Graves followed with 14 points, seven rebounds, four assists, one steal, and one block.
