Barbourville, Ky. – The Union Commonwealth University volleyball team hosted Brenau on Friday. The matchup featured Senior Night for the Bulldogs. UCU won 3-0 (25-23, 25-12, 25-10). With the victory, Union has won five matches in a row.
The Senior Night festivities were held prior to the game. Union recognized Lara Gomes De Castro, Luisa Slompo, Morgan Stacy, and Nicole Almestica.
Union's Raquel Kessler led all players in kills with nine, while Emily Shumaker tallied eight. Jasmine Porter and Berkli Benefield each totaled six kills.
Maddy McGaughey led all players in assists with 21, while Yanelis Turbi tallied 11. Almestica led all players in digs with 14. McGaughey tallied eight digs, while Gomes De Castro registered six and Kessler accounted for five.
The Bulldogs are now 13-16 (11-8 AAC) this season, while Brenau is 10-14 (6-12 AAC). Up next for UCU is the Bulldogs' final home game of the season, which will be against Montreat on Saturday, Nov. 2, at 11:00 a.m.
