Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles come up short at Midway University

Midway, KY: On Saturday, February 15th, the Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles returned to the hardwood as they traveled to central Kentucky to battle the Midway Eagles in River States Conference action. The hosts would take control early and pull away for the 101-67 victory.

In the opening segment, MU showed good balance as eight different players would score. This gave the hosts a 25-16 advantage after ten minutes of play.

In the second quarter, Midway received 12 points from Atlantis White on their way to a 27-point period. Freshman guard Elivia Moore knocked down 6 for ALC, but the visitors would trail, 52-32 at intermission.

In the third period, freshman guard Bailey Stewart led the Pippa Passes posse with 6 points, but her crew was outscored 20-16. This would send the central Kentucky Eagles into the final stanza leading 72-48.

In the final ten minutes, the Caney Creek club was led by sophomore guard Kennedy Harvel with 5 points. Unfortunately, MU would pour in 29 points to increase their advantage until the final buzzer sounded.

For Alice Lloyd (10-15; 5-9 RSC), Stewart and Harvel were the only players to achieve double-digits, finishing with 13 and 12 points, respectively. E. Moore and freshman guard Ashtyn Barrett both added 8 to the cause.

Sophomore forward Jamie Cown led the club with 8 boards, while Barrett joined Cowan with 2 steals apiece.

The Caney Club finished shooting 33.8% (23-58) from the field and 25.9% (7-27) from long range. They connected on 73.7% (14-19) from the foul line while adding 43 rebounds, 11 assists, and 7 steals.

White led MU (15-11; 9-5 RSC) with 18 points. Her squad finished shooting 46.7% (35-75) from the field, 43.5% (10-23) from behind the arc, and 84% (21-25) from the charity stripe. They also added 46 rebounds, 16 assists, and 12 steals.

The Lady Eagles return to the hardwood on Tuesday, February 18th  (weather permitting), for a RSC matchup against RSC divisional foe Rio Grande University. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
