Hot-shooting MNU takes down Men's Basketball

Men's Basketball lost at home to the MidAmerica Nazarene University Pioneers, Saturday.

The Ravens trailed by 4 at halftime before losing 93-66.

Both teams had a hot shooting hand in the first half. The Ravens shot 53% from the field, including 7-of-16 from 3-point range, to score 43 points in the opening half. However, the Pioneers were just a little bit better, shooting 54.5% from the field and 9-14 from long range to take a 47-43 lead at the break.

Jack Vander Woude and Brycen LaRue spurred the Ravens attack in the first half, scoring 15 and 12 points, respectively.

Unfortunately for the Ravens, the Pioneers maintained their hot shooting in the second half while the Ravens did not.

MNU finished the game shooting 57.4% from the field and tied a season high with 17 3-pointers. The Pioneers entered the game averaging 33.3% from 3-point range but shot 63% against the Ravens on Saturday. Joe Buchanan led all scorers with 28 points and was 7-9 from long range.

The Ravens were able to make just 2-12 from 3-point range in the second, finishing at 32% from deep and 41% from the field in the game.

Vander Woude finished with 20 points and LaRue closed out with 12 points. Deaglan Sullivan had 7 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Gino Corridori scored 8 points and had 3 steals.

Next up for the Ravens (6-13, 5-10 Heart) will be a Wednesday, Jan. 29 contest at (RV) Graceland University.
