Mustangs Fall to the Vikings

DES MOINES, Iowa - Mount Mercy's women's basketball team fell to the Grand View Vikings, 87-43, in a Wednesday night conference matchup.

After trailing 27-16 at the close of the first quarter, the Mustangs struggled offensively, managing just nine points in the second quarter. The Mustangs shot 16-of-50 (32.0%) from the field and 4-of-21 (19.0%) from beyond the arc. Meanwhile, the Vikings outshot the Mustangs, going 30-of-64 (46.9%) from the field.

The Mustangs were led by Malie Marfil, who recorded 13 points on 5-of-11 shooting while grabbing seven defensive rebounds. Madison Skelton contributed seven points and seven rebounds, with Annika Headington close behind with six points.

Grand View's Ella Larsen paved the way for a Vikings victory with 26 points, shooting 9-of-13 from the field and 5-of-8 from beyond the arc. She was followed by teammates Cleao Murray and Anna Gossling, who added 18 and 17 points, respectively.

The Mustangs return to action on Saturday, February 1, when they host Benedictine. Tip-off is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
