
SMC Stifles Fisher in 105-33 Rout
Tampa, Fla. – The Spartanburg Methodist College women's basketball team wrapped up its trip to the Sunshine State with a 105-33 rout of Fisher College to wrap up the first week of Continental Athletic Conference play.
SMC (5-11, 2-1 CAC) shot at a season-best 50.6% clip from the field and scored 105 points for the most by a SMC women's squad since they put up 105 against the Montreat JV on November 28, 2023.
The Pioneers had four players in double figures with Najah Gilliam, who poured in a season-high 31 and Destiny Middleton scored in double figures for the fifth-straight game, scoring 20 in the win. Mia Hansen and Krystal Johnson added 16 and 15 points, respectively. Emiya Gallman and Latavius Wilson each pulled down 10 rebounds in the winning effort as SMC held Fisher to 24.6% shooting from the field.
Fisher (0-6, 0-1 CAC) were led by Olivia Hamel, who 14 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Falcons.
SMC started the game on a 16-2 run on its way to the victory. In the opening run, the Pioneers made its first four shots from the field. After giving up just 20 points in the first 20 minutes for a 49-20 lead at the break, SMC held Fisher to just four points in the third quarter en route to the win.
