
Lady Warriors beat Evangel 5-2
Sterling College women's tennis traveled to Springfield, Mo. to take on Evangel University on Monday, March 24. The Lady Warriors came out victorious with a 5-2 win.
The Lady Warriors started by sweeping the doubles matches. In the no. 1 doubles match, Giovana Gaboardi and Nadia Margaritov got the 6-1 win over Lidia Bjelica and Lauren Hendrickson. Hannah Giordanelli and Greta Fankhauser kept things going with a 6-3 win in the no. 2 doubles match against Mckylie Cox and Maddeline Peters. In the no. 3 doubles contest, Ana Alvarez and Camila Castro Medina closed things out with a 6-2 victory over Hennessey Brown and Jacey Wilson.
Alvarez kept things rolling in the no. 1 singles match with a 6-1, 6-0 win against Lidia Bjelica. In the no. 2 singles match, Margaritov got the win over Hendrickson, 6-3, 6-0. Giovana Gaboardi also got a victory in the no. 3 singles play against Brown going 6-0, 6-1.
In the no. 4 singles match, Giordanelli put up a fight against Wilson but fell 6-0, 7-6. Fankhauser also had a tough match in no. 5 singles play, losing the first set 6-4, winning the second set 6-0, and losing the tiebreaker 1-0 to Peters. Brooklyn Kuhn closed things out for the Lady Warriors with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Cox in the no. 6 singles match.
Sterling will be back in action on Saturday, March 29 in Lindsborg, Kan. as they take on Bethany College.
