LIMA, OH - UNOH never trailed Saturday afternoon as they picked up their fifth straight conference victory to open the season, the best start in program history. The Racers were fueled another 30-point outing from Alysia Lawson as they topped UM-Dearborn in The Garage, 87-72.
The first quarter played tight producing the games only tie and tilting slightly in favor of the Racers, 17-13. The first four minutes followed the same trend before UNOH rattled off a 12-3 run turning a two-point lead into an eleven-point advantage three minutes before halftime. The teams played even into the second half and the lead sat at nine at the 8:21 mark, but the Racers took control of the quarter outscoring the Wolverines 23-10 to finish the frame and hold a 69-47 lead after three. The game hovered around 20-points throughout the fourth but UM-Dearborn kept fighting and scored seven of the final nine points to cut it down to 15 in a 87-72 win for UNOH.
Alysia Lawson finished the night with 33 points going 11-19 (58%) from the field, 3-6 from outside and a perfect 8-8 from the free throw line. Alycia Patterson recorded her second double-double of the season scoring 15 points and pulling down a career best 13 rebounds. Jayci Allen chipped in twelve points and eight boards while Ameena Muhammad put up twelve off the bench. Ana Montero Sanz grabbed a career high nine rebounds and finished with a game high eight assists.
UNOH shot 41% as a team from the field and 82% from the charity stripe while dominating in the paint 54-45 rebounding and 42-24 points in the paint.
The Racers will have a week off before a road trip to Concordia December 14 and a return home December 18 against Siena Heights to finish off 2024.
