
Lady Falcons Demolish DII Edward Waters
TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. – The Lady Falcons took down the Edward Waters University Tigers in four sets 25-18, 25-21, 21-25, and 25-17.
The Lady Falcons swung hard and swung often in this match averaging 39.5 attempts per set. Of the 39.5 attempts per set Florida College landed on average 14.75 kills per set and three players landed double digit kill totals. This dominant performance showed in their first set as they stifled the Tigers 25-18.
The second set was a little closer after some adjustments from the Tigers. Even so the Lady Falcons still dominated play at the net limiting the Tigers to a .023 hitting percentage forcing nine errors on 43 attempts. Not only at the net, but Florida College's Raquel Teixeira had 19 digs in this match constantly keeping the ball off the floor. The stats tell the story again as the Lady Falcons push the Tigers to the brink taking the second set 25-21.
With their backs against the wall the Tigers clawed their way back behind a 15-kill match for Alexis Simpson. They rewrote the script in the third set by attempting just 24 attacks and only landing eight of them for kills. Yet they only had two attack error which would lead them to scrape together a set victory 21-25 and force a fourth set.
Looking to get back to winning the ways the Lady Falcons would look to wrap this match up in the fourth set. Florida College's Madi Lee collected 53 assists and added eight digs to an overall incredible performance. A performance that would not only lead the match in assists, but also would return the Lady Falcons to their winning ways as they took the fourth and final set in dominant fashion 25-17.
