The Lady Sea Beggar volleyball team had a tough start to their week on the road in Arizona, but the team refocused and was determined to finish the weekend strong. After a hard-fought battle between the Providence Christian Sea Beggars and the CalTech Beavers on September 21, 2024, Providence came out on top with a 3-2 victory at the Braun Athletic Center in Pasadena, CA.

The game was closely contested, with both teams giving their all on the court. The Lady Sea Beggars started strong but eventually lost the first set 23-25. The Beavers tried to take lead in the second set, but Providence narrowly won the set 26-24. The Beggars regained their momentum and took the match lead in the third set, winning 25-14. However, CalTech managed to stay in the game by winning a close fourth set 25-23, forcing a decisive fifth set. While both teams were exhausted, the Lady Beggars showed their resilience and closed out the match with a 15-12 victory in the final set.

Jacey Loewen was a standout performer for the Beggars, recording an impressive 21 kills with a .452 hitting percentage. Jacey was supported by Jenelle Loewen, who contributed with 17 kills, and Sanaii Cooper, who added 7 kills. Tehani Ho'okano led the team with 35 assists, while Iris del Valle and Elaine Turituri made key contributions with 4 service aces each. Chenelle Jones also led the team with 19 digs. On defense, Jacey led the team with 2 solo blocks, while Iris, Jenelle, and Sanaii assisted in a total of 10 blocks.

It was a closely contested match that didn't disappoint, keeping fans on the edge of their seats throughout all five sets. Both teams showed determination and skill on the court, making for a thrilling game of volleyball. Providence Christian's victory over CalTech was a testament to their hard work and dedication, and they will look to carry this momentum forward in their upcoming matches.

The Lady Sea Beggars have a rematch back at home on Clement Court against Park University-Gilbert on Thursday, September 26th, at 6 p.m. Come out and cheer them on as they continue to fine-tune their games before the start of Cal Pac play.
