ATHENS, Tenn.- The baseball team closed out the series against the No. 17 Indiana University Grenadiers with a doubleheader on Saturday. The No. 1 ranked Bulldogs swept the doubleheader 14-2 and 9-7.

Game One:

Daniel Stewart brought in the first two runs of the game. In the first inning, with Devin Dixon standing on second after a single and stolen base, Stewart's single gave the baserunner the time to run to complete the run around the bases to give the team a 1-0 lead. In the third inning, Stewart made a trot around the bases with a solo home run, moving the lead to 2-0. The score moved to 3-0 when Jack Stevens scored on Chris Catalano's single.

In the fourth inning, the Bulldogs hit three consecutive solo home runs to move ahead 6-0. Kolton Reynold and Corbin Shaw were back-to-back while Dixon followed two batters later to make the lead six runs. A five-run fifth inning put the run-rule into effect. Stevens scored the first run on an error on Cody McGill's at-bat while Reynolds scored on a Shaw single a few moments later. Josh Shelly's double brought in Shaw while an error on Dixon's hit allowed Shelly and Kurtis Reid to both score, giving the team an 11-2 lead.

In the sixth inning, Shaw moved the team's commanding lead to 14-0 with a three-run home run, helping the team take the first game of the doubleheader 14-2.

Shaw led the offense with five RBIs in the game. Cameron Goffar had six strikeouts in the game.

After the top of the second inning, TWU trailed 3-0. The team took the lead in the bottom of second.

Home runs got the Bulldogs to nine runs. Garcia hit a three-run home run in the third inning and Dixon hit his second of the day in the fourth inning, putting Tennessee Wesleyan ahead 9-3. The team held on after four runs by Indiana Southeast through the remaining innings for a 9-7 win.
