Lady Koalas Fall on the Road at TN Wesleyan

ATHENS, TN - The Columbia College women's basketball team fell 83-68 on the road at 7th place Tennessee Wesleyan Saturday afternoon in CC's last away game of the season.

Columbia put five players in double-figure scoring while shooting nearly 45% overall and making 11 threes at a 38% clip. TWU shot 46% overall and 40 percent from three while making 13 of 15 freebies. 

The Koalas outscored the Lady Bulldogs in two of the four quarters by a combined 15 points, but TWU's big third quarter where they outscored CC 30-7 was the difference in the game. TW led 22-15 after one quarter before CC trimmed it to three at the break down 36-39.

TWU then increased their lead from three to 26 points at the end of the brutal third period. Columbia outscored TWU 25-14 in the fourth while ending the game on an 18-3 run to get to within 15 points, but it was too late by then. 

Senior guard JuJu Stringfellow led Columbia with 12 points off the bench while starting guards Tysonia Lowe and junior Layla Wall combined for 20 points and 5 assists. Lowe also added a team-best 12 rebounds and 2 steals. Sophomore guard Kindan Dawson also tallied 10 points with 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals in the defeat. Junior forward Makayla Street posted 11 points and 6 rebounds with a steal as well while senior forward Tamyra Davis had 9 points.

With the loss, the Koalas now sit in 8th place in the conference at 10-10 in the AAC while TWU moved into the 7th spot at 11-9. CC is 17-10 overall while TWU is 14-11. 

Columbia will look for its 18th win when they return home to host Brenau University on Wednesday at 6:00 pm.
