WARRIORS FIRE ON ALL CYLINDERS AT MICHIGAN-DEARBORN
DEARBORN, Mich. - It was an excellent all-around showing for the Warriors in a snow-delayed win over Michigan-Dearborn, with RCU taking home an 81-72 victory. Guard Brody Parker led the way for RCU, who put up 26 points, six rebounds, five steals, and three assists. Forwards Dustin Farrow and Brett White put up double-doubles in the game.
THE RUNDOWN
FIRST HALF
The first ten minutes showed a strong offense from both teams, with RCU maintaining a small lead thanks to big defensive plays. RCU's first three of the game was netted by White, who Gunner Walters assisted. Walters had nine assists overall and was making an early impact by finding open Warriors both in and outside the paint.
Parker and the Warriors began to open things up after the ten-minute media timeout, with Parker starting things by snagging a defensive rebound and taking the ball for a transition layup and one. The Warriors kept up the defensive effort, shutting down the Wolverines for several minutes before scoring some unanswered paint points to take a 34-27 lead into the half.
SECOND HALF
Out of halftime, the Warriors expanded the lead with a big 14-0 run that featured several key defensive possessions. Center James Fisher and Parker logged steals that led to easy opportunities for RCU on the other end, and the run forced a Michigan-Dearborn timeout. The run set up RCU for the remainder of the game, with paint points being the key difference.
Parker and Fisher continued to make things difficult for Michigan-Dearborn's ballhandlers, and the lead grew on a three by George Reshotka to put RCU up 21. The Wolverines began to rally midway through the second half, closing the gap thanks to some threes. However, the Warriors kept up the defensive pressure, forcing turnovers and finding opportunities at the free throw line to seal the game.
