
BETHANY BLOCKED BY STERLING IN 0-3 LOSS
Sterling, Kan. - Bethany College was on the road in Sterling to take on the Sterling College Warriors, Wednesday, November 6th.
Set 1: Strong start for both teams as the first set kicked off. Bethany out ahead with a small lead out of the gate but Sterling managed to tie up the set and then take the lead at 7-8. From there the Warriors pushed points and extended their lead until they were able to take set 1, 19-25.
Set 2: Similar story as set 1, Bethany quickly earned a small lead but Sterling tied it up and then went on a run. Swedes found themselves down by five, 4-9. The Swedes went to work and tied up the set at 12-12 and then again at 14-14. From there the Warriors went on another run and were up by four, 17-21. Unfortunately for the Swedes, they would not be able to cut the deficient and Sterling would take set 2, 20-25.
Set 3: Final set of the night, Bethany went up by four, 6-2 but couldn't hold on. The Warriors came back and tied the set up at 9-9. The Swedes tried to contain the Warriors' run but Sterling would maintain at three point lead over Bethany before taking the set at 19-25.
Notable stats from this game include 7 kills by Cara Cox, 7 kills by Autry Satica, 2 blocks and also 7 kills by Madison McGuire, 21 digs by Michelle Acevedo Ortiz, and 2 service aces and 18 assists by Mandy Knipp.
Up next, the Swedes are on the road at Southwestern College taking on the Moundbuilders for their final regular season game, Saturday, November 9th, starting at 1 pm.
