Mustangs Women's Soccer Earns a Draw with Trinity Christian

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Mustang women's soccer program earned the first point of the Hannah Clark era, earning a draw against Trinity Christian, as the game would end in a 2-2 tie.

Ava D'Ambrosio scored the first Mount Mercy goal of the season on a ball that bounced around the box following a corner kick, as the Mustangs took a 1-0 lead after just seven and a half minutes. The Trolls of Trinity Christian would notch it back up at one nine minutes later as Litzy Corona put the ball past the Mustang keeper. 

Orla Humphrey added her first goal of the year in the 30th minute, as the Mustangs took a one goal lead into the half. With just 12 minutes left in the match, Demi Scibetta was able to score for Trinity Christian as the game ended in a draw.

Emily Metaschk was remarkable in goal, recording five saves on seven shots on goal. Metaschk would hold the edge in saves, outperforming her adversary by one save. The Mustangs would also hold a five to one edge in corner kicks.

The draw marks the first point of the season, and the Mustangs will return to the pitch next Friday at Grinnell.
