V-Hawks Fall in Five

DAVENPORT, Iowa – The Viterbo Men's Volleyball team fell in a five setter on Monday evening to St. Ambrose University 3-2 (25-13, 25-18, 25-20, 15-7). The V-Hawks sink to 2-10, 0-2, while the Fighting Bees rise to 8-7. 1-0.

Off to a slow start Riley Connors takes the first kill of the match for the V-Hawks before Logan Amdur would sneak an attack for the kill. The V-Hawks capitalizing on service errors by the Fighting Bees would surpass double digits with a kill by Stryk Myhre.

Alex Kratzenstein opened set two with back to back kills before Davis would take the kill. The V-Hawks getting into a rhythm would find Amdur with back to back service aces. On a five point run Kratzenstein and Davis with kills.

The V-Hawks volleying for the lead early set up Jack Peroz for the kill and an ace, followed by Myhre with a pair of kills. Daxton Marschall on the serve would give the V-Hawks to claim set three with kills by Davis and a Peroz-Amdur block.

Connors would two kills from Dugan would get the ball rolling in set four. Davis carrying the momentum supported by Myhre and Connors on the block. With five points left in the set Davis and Kratzenstein would take a series of kills.

VU looking for the lead led Amdur with sets for Davis to attack, though the Fighting Bees would go on a six point run, Burton Bosan Jr. getting in the final V-Hawk kill.

Davis led the V-Hawks with 17 kills, Amdur claimed 43 assists, and Dugan took 16 digs. Pedro Zang led the Fighting Bees with 20 kills.

The V-Hawks return to action Saturday March 1 for the second home Tri Match of the season.
