Eagles Fall to Trojans on Senior Day

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (2/20/25) – The Williams Baptist University men's basketball team concluded the 2024-25 season at home on Thursday with an 83-57 loss to Hannibal-LaGrange.

Before the game, WBU honored five seniors for their hard work and dedication to the WBU men's basketball program.  Caleb Anderson, Jordan Johnson, Jadyn Ramsey, EJ Johnson, and DJ Townsend were all recognized for their contributions to the program over the past few years.

The all-senior starting lineup got the raucous SMC crowd on its feet early with EJ Johnson slamming home after a lob pass from Caleb Anderson for the first bucket of the game.

The Eagles carried that momentum as Jadyn Ramsey knocked down a triple to put WBU up five.

Hannibal went on an 11-0 run to take a 16-10 lead in the contest.  Caleb Anderson hit from downtown to cut the lead back to three and a DJ Townsend jumper cut the lead to one, but the Trojans were able to build the lead back to 12 at the end of the first half.

The Eagles were unable to muster a comeback in the second half.  Coach Josh Austin substituted his seniors out in the final minutes to thunderous applause from the home crowd.

Jordan Johnson led the scoring charge for the Eagles with 12 points.  DJ Townsend followed up with 10.  Elisha Cofield led the team in rebounds with six boards on the night.

As a team, WBU went 21-for-57 from the field.  The Eagles lost the rebound battle 40-30.

The Eagles end the season 4-20 overall and 1-17 in AMC play.
