Koala Volleyball Falls Short at Clinton

ROCK HILL, SC - The Columbia College volleyball team fell in four sets on the road at NCCAA foe Clinton College on Saturday.

Clinton won the first set 25-20 before the Koalas took the second 25-21 on 11 kills hitting .133. The Lady Bears then came back to take the third set 25-20 before Clinton closed it out 25-10 in the fourth to pick up the win.

Clinton improves to 1-0 while Columbia fell to 0-2. Columbia totaled 33 kills in the match to Clinton's 37 while also compiling 50 digs. Clinton hit .148 for the match. 

The Koalas were led by sophomore setter Debra Shephard's double-double of 26 assists and 11 digs along with four kills and two aces. Senior middle blocker Destiny Brown also played well recording a team-best 12 kills while hitting .226 along with three blocks, an ace and two digs. Fellow senior middle Mikayla Stout also played well tallying five kills and two blocks while senior OH Gracie Hicklin grabbed 6 kills, six digs and three aces.

Freshman libero Katie Roberts led the team with 13 digs while junior DS Leticia Assen had 12 digs.

The Koalas next head on the road to face Spartanburg Methodist in a rematch on Wednesday at 6:30 pm.
