Drovers Cruise Past the Tigers in Three Sets

CHICKASHA, Okla. – Saturday afternoon, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (6-7, 2-2 SAC) stayed hot with a dominant 3-0 sweep against Central Christian College (0-11, 0-5 SAC). 

The Drovers were in full control of the first set and cruised to a 25-11 win. USAO withstood a couple scoring runs from the Tigers in the second set and held on for a 25-16 win. Central Christian once again showed some fight in the third set, but USAO was too powerful and wrapped up the match with a 25-17 triumph. 

As a team, the Drover offense compiled an incredible .305 attack percentage with 37 kills, while the Tigers recorded a .029 attack percentage and 28 kills. USAO's setters dished out a total of 32 assists, meanwhile the defense produced 44 digs and four total blocks. Central Christian produced 25 assists, 31 digs, and six total blocks. Additionally, USAO scored on six service aces, while CCC tallied two aces.  

The USAO offense was led by Alacia Ledoux's 12 kills on a .320 attack percentage. Jaliyah Cox added eight kills, followed by Jaedyn Adams-Brown with seven. 

Bailey Makahununiu dished out a match-high of 16 assists, in addition to five digs. Josie Joyce contributed 14 assists and four digs. 

Brynlee Birney recorded a match-high of 17 digs. Yaiza Larrauri added six digs and three aces in the win. 

WHAT'S NEXT?

The Drovers will now hit the road for a pair of matches at College of the Ozarks and John Brown University. USAO will face College of the Ozarks on Friday, September 20 at 7:00 PM CT in Point Lookout, Mo., followed by a matchup at John Brown in Siloam Springs Ark. on Saturday, September 20 at 4:00 PM CT.
