
ALC Vollelyball Earns First Victory of Season in Straight Sets
Pippa Passes, KY: The Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles volleyball team took to the friendly confines of Caney Creek on September 5th as they played host to the Crown College Crusaders (0-1). After the dust had settled, the hosts would emerge victorious in straight sets.
In the opener, the two squads battled point for point, but ALC crept out to a small lead. Then, with the scoreboard reading 20-19, the Lady Eagles would close on a 5-1 burst to take the game 25-20.
Game 2 started the same way as the two combatants traded points. However, with the scoreboard reading 18-18, The Pippa Passes posse would once again make the clutch plays to win, 25-20.
With their backs against the wall, Johnson put up quite a tussle in Game 3. Once more, ALC pulled out to a slight lead, only to see the Volunteer Club fight back. Finally, with the fans looking at a 22-22 tie, the Kentucky gang made the vital plays they needed to sweep the hard-fought match with a 25-23 victory.
For the contest, the victors (1-4) led in kills (43-32), service aces (7-6), and assists (40-30). They only trailed by two in digs, 78-76.
ALC's Kyleah Ward and Jadyn Hall led in kills with 10 and 8, respectively. Rose Scotello handed out 29 assists, while Camryn Thompson led the way with 4 service aces. Gracie Gibson and TK Ellis chipped in with 21 and 18 digs.
Alice Lloyd returns to the hardwood on September 7th when they journey to Cincinnati to face Cincinnati Clermont and Welch College in a doubleheader.
