Pioneer Volleyball Zooms Past Lady Comets

Pioneer Volleyball Zooms Past Lady Comets– Wil Teague, Sports Information Director, 11/8/2024

Pioneer Volleyball improved to 5-5 in the American Midwest Conference with a three-set sweep over the Lady Comets of Cottey College. The Pioneers improve to 9-14 overall on the year. Sets went as follows 25-21 CRC, 25-12 CRC, and 25-11 CRC.

Paragould, Arkansas – It was all Lady Pioneers this afternoon as CRC briskly swept Cottey College. CRC's biggest hurdle in the matchup posed itself in the opening set as the Lady Comets led Crowley's Ridge for the majority of the set before a last-ditch effort run from CRC allowed the Pioneers to reclaim the lead and snatch the set with a four-point margin. In sets two and three, CRC left little doubt as they overwhelmed the Lady Comets with massive runs, including a set two run of 18-4, and a set three run of 11-2. Each of these overwhelming Pioneer runs only ensured CRC's triumph.

The Lady Pioneers posted double-digit kills in every set of this afternoon's contest as CRC totaled 38 kills as a team. Senior Hannah Halverson led the Lady Pioneers with a season-high 18 kills and 16 digs to complete the double-double. Sophomore Madelyn Burris led in assists with 16, and senior Jadyn Hesse followed with 11.  Sophomore Mallory Hollis let the defense with 19 digs. Senior Paige Glenn passed a career milestone as the Paragould native became the 8th Lady Pioneer to surpass 500 career kills. The Pioneers as a squad served up 11 service aces and stuffed 13 total blocks in the conference win.

Up Next: CRC will host William Woods University in the final regular season contest of the year tomorrow at 11:00 AM. CRC's senior day ceremony will take place before the contest, where we will recognize five Lady Pioneers. #GOPIONEERS
