Cal Maritime defeats Jessup in Monday’s road matchup

ROCKLIN, Calif. – Cal Maritime outscored Jessup, 38-29, in the opening half of Monday's matchup at Warrior Arena and held that advantage for the rest of the evening as the Keelhaulers led for all but six minutes of a game it won by an 80-69 score.

Led by Alex Maze's16 points and 15 from Jake Matteson and DJ Henry, CSUM's bench outscored its counterparts, 46-20; combined with its +11 margin in second chance points, Cal Maritime recorded its first victory on Jessup's home court since January 2, 2015.

This result snapped the Warriors' four-game win streak between the two teams, which also resulted in their first home loss of the year.

DeAndre Minor led all starters with 14 points and Jamal Frenchwood led all players with 13 rebounds. Frenchwood's 11 defensive rebounds nearly matched half of Jessup's team total on the defensive glass (23).

Cal Maritime shot .474 overall and limited Jessup to .394 shooting as a team.

Men's basketball's next game is scheduled for Wednesday night inside PEAC Main Gym when Stanton visits Vallejo for the inaugural head-to-head game.
