Blue Hawks split on day one in Jamestown

Jamestown, N.D. – Dickinson State opened their 2025 season with a Friday split in Jamestown. The Blue Hawks fell, 4-2, to host University of Jamestown before taking down NCAA Division II University of Mary, 6-4, in the second game.

Dickinson State fell to Jamestown 4-2 in its season opener despite a strong defensive effort. The Blue Hawks struck first in the third inning when Jai Maddox-Hernandez singled and later scored on a fielder's choice. The lead held until the sixth, when Jamestown pushed across three runs on a pair of RBI singles and a bases-loaded walk.

The Jimmies added an insurance run in the seventh before Dickinson State attempted a late rally. Baylee Berg scored on a Jamestown error, but the Blue Hawks left two runners stranded to end the game.

Alison Eldridge started in the circle, allowing three earned runs on seven hits over 5.1 innings, striking out two. Reannan Butler pitched the final 1.2 innings, surrendering one run while striking out two.

Maddox-Hernandez led the offense with two hits, while Allyson Farrington, Celina Wilharm, Kara Conway, Brooke Lijewski, and Bailey Hansen each added a hit.

Dickinson State rebounded in the second game of the day with a 6-4 victory over the University of Mary. After falling behind 4-2 in the third inning, the Blue Hawks responded with two runs in the fifth to tie the game before scoring twice in the seventh to secure the win.

Celina Wilharm hit a two-run home run in the third to put Dickinson State ahead early. In the fifth, Cassidy Venner delivered an RBI single, and Brooke Lijewski added a sacrifice fly to even the score. The Blue Hawks capitalized on a pair of University of Mary errors in the seventh, with Wilharm and Farrington both scoring unearned runs.

Reannan Butler started and allowed four earned runs in three innings before Ava Jahner took over, shutting out the Marauders over the final four frames while striking out two to earn the win.

Farrington, Wilharm, and Venner each had two hits, while Kara Conway, Lijewski, Ava Jahner, and Bailey Hansen all added one.
