
UCU falls to Pikeville
Barbourville, Ky. – The Union Commonwealth University football team hosted Pikeville on Saturday night. The Bulldogs fell short 62-35. The combined total of 97 points is tied for second most in an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) game.
Union scored 35 points, which is the most points scored by the Bulldogs this season. Union QB Bryson Grabowski was 11-of-31 for 193 yards, five touchdowns, and no interceptions. He was one TD away from tying the school record for the most passing touchdowns in one game.
Grabowski led UCU in rushing yards with 49, while being tied for the most carries with RB Taji Jackson at 13. UCU receiver Isaiah Johnson tallied four catches for 97 yards and three touchdowns.
His three receiving TD's tied UCU's school record as Johnson became the seventh player in school history to earn the distinction. Johnson registered a 78-yard TD catch with 3:10 to play in the fourth quarter. UCU WR Tony Norman tallied three catches for 55 yards and two touchdowns.
Union registered two interceptions and three fumble recoveries. Freshman DBs Donell Casey and DJ Washington each recorded an interception. KeKe McMurry and Kamron Smith each tallied a game-leading 10 total tackles.
Kam Bradshaw recorded seven tackles, while Zayne Hammack and Jason Burley each tallied six. Byron Gee had five total tackles.
The Bulldogs are now 2-5 (1-2 AAC) this season, while Pikeville is 3-4 (3-0 AAC). Up next for Union is a road conference game against Kentucky Christian on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 1:30 p.m.
